Capel St Mary was one of the few villages in the United Kingdom that did not have a War Memorial monument.


The Capel St Mary War Memorial Trust worked to raise money for a permanent memorial which was dedicated at 1100 hrs on the 11th November 2018. The 100th anniversary of the armistice, when the guns fell silent during World War I.


It records the names of local men who gave their lives in the service of our country.


Capel St Mary Parish Council is responsible for the Capel St Mary War Memorial.


In conjunction with various local groups, the Parish Council organises an annual remembrance service in November.
